SystemWideEnrollmentRoadmaptoHarmony

Harmony Public Schools in Texas is an open‑enrollment, tuition‑free public charter system funded by the state and operated by nonprofit educational organizations. Harmony does not limit admissions by geographic boundary—families from outside traditional district lines may apply—and we accept applications year‑round for the current school year; if a seat is available, your child will be enrolled immediately, and if not they will be placed on a waiting list and contacted as soon as a seat opens. For families planning ahead, Harmony offers an annual open enrollment period from November 1 to February 10 (or March 15 for new campuses); students who apply during this period are considered for seats for the next school year.

Because some campuses receive more applicants than their TEA‑approved capacity, Harmony uses a third‑party, computer‑based blind lottery conducted with secure lottery software to ensure a fair and transparent admissions process. The lottery takes place within 15 days of the application deadline and waiting lists are generated by the same process. While the lottery is random, certain applicant groups receive priority in accordance with state and federal guidelines: children of Harmony employees (space permitting) and eligible siblings of currently enrolled students. Unselected students are placed on the waiting list in the order drawn.

Families are invited to attend the live lottery event, and parents or guardians will be notified by text and/or email if their student is offered a seat; those not selected will receive their student’s waitlist number. The campus will follow up directly with families offered seats to provide next steps for completing enrollment and securing the student’s place; families have three days to accept an offer, after which the seat may be offered to the next student on the waiting list. Current students must submit an annual intent‑to‑re‑enroll form each January to retain their seat—students who do not submit the form, students who withdraw, and families who were not offered a seat must reapply during the next open enrollment period because waiting lists do not carry over between school years.
