Harmony Public Schools has grown and evolved quite a lot since opening its first campus in 2000. So has its home state: Texas.

The Lone Star State is known for its big skies, bold dreams, and boundless opportunities. From advancements in technology to cultural milestones and community-driven achievements, Texas has continued to thrive as a beacon of progress and innovation. Over the past 25 years, the state has experienced transformative growth while staying true to its unique heritage. Here, we celebrate some of the most remarkable and positive events that have shaped Texas from 2000 to 2025.

1. The Rise of the Texas Tech Industry

Texas solidified its status as a tech powerhouse in the 21st century, with cities like Austin, Dallas, and Houston becoming hubs for innovation. In the early 2000s, companies like Dell, headquartered in Round Rock, were already paving the way for Texas to be a leader in technology. By the 2010s and 2020s, Austin earned the nickname "Silicon Hills" as it attracted major tech giants like Apple, Google, and Tesla.

In 2022, Austin became home to Tesla’s Gigafactory, one of the largest manufacturing facilities in the world. This facility not only produced electric vehicles but also became a cornerstone of sustainable innovation. Meanwhile, Houston emerged as a leader in medical technology and biotechnology, fostering groundbreaking research at institutions like the Texas Medical Center.

2. NASA’s Continued Exploration and the Growth of SpaceX

Founded in 2000, Harmony grew into one of the nation’s largest and most successful charter school networks. By 2025, it was celebrating 25 years of providing high-quality STEM-focused education to students across the state.

Harmony’s commitment to  academic excellence and college readiness has earned accolades nationwide, demonstrating the power of education to transform communities. Its success has inspired similar initiatives across the U.S., cementing Texas’s reputation as a leader in innovative education.

7. Preservation of Natural Beauty

Texas’s natural beauty has always been one of its greatest assets, and efforts to preserve it have seen significant milestones over the past two decades. Big Bend National Park, already a beloved treasure, became the focus of expanded conservation efforts, including new hiking trails and eco-tourism initiatives.

In 2016, the Waco Mammoth National Monument was added to the National Park System, highlighting Texas's unique prehistoric heritage. State parks also saw a resurgence in popularity, with investments in infrastructure and accessibility ensuring future generations could enjoy the state's natural wonders.
