What our students are saying

Here is what some of our students had to say when we asked them to share their Harmony story with us:

The World of Robotics

Hi, I’m Omar D., and this is my memory story for HPS’s 25th anniversary.

When I was in third grade, HPS clubs opened my eyes to the world of robotics. That year, I joined the Drone Club, which had just started. My coach, Mr. Kerim, was incredibly supportive and always encouraged us to do our best. In our very first competition, we earned first place! That win took us to the nationals in Michigan, and it was just the start of an amazing journey.

In fourth grade, I stuck with robotics, and my passion grew even stronger. Every year, my team managed to earn at least one first-place finish. But the moment that stands out the most? When our school was invited to be featured on NBC News—it was an incredible experience, and I’ll never forget how proud we all felt.

Now, I’m in sixth grade and a pilot in my school’s Drone Club. I enjoy helping other Harmony elementary schools thrive in robotics and cheering them on as they succeed. Looking back, I’m so grateful to HPS for sparking my love for robotics and giving me so many amazing opportunities.

Rubiks Cube Opens Doors

When I was in 3rd grade, I remember entering my first ever rubiks cube competition with my team at Harmony School of Achievement. I had always been intrigued by rubiks cubes and felt amazed when I saw people solving rubiks cubes while being timed because I had always wanted to come to a competition. Then it was time to do the team competitions. As a team, we had to solve 25 3x3 rubiks cubes and we did so well that we got 1st place. I was so excited because I was able to receive a medal for getting first place in the team competition. Then I had to do my 3x3 solves and I got a low time of about 40 seconds, which at that time was my best and I was very proud of myself. I was very happy with this experience and provided is a picture of the trophies that we kept as a team.
