Fifth graders from Harmony Public Schools-Central Texas are heading to the San Antonio Regionals after earning the Core Values Finalist Award at the FIRST LEGO League Challenge Somerset Qualifier.
Competing as the Underground Explorers, the four-member team demonstrated exceptional teamwork, collaboration and gracious professionalism throughout the competition. The Core Values Finalist Award recognizes teams that embody the spirit of FIRST LEGO League by showing respect, inclusion and a commitment to learning at every stage of the event.
This year’s theme, Unearthed, challenged students to explore the work of archaeologists. Teams researched real-world problems, developed innovative solutions and designed and programmed robots to complete mission-based challenges. The experience encouraged students to apply science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills in meaningful and creative ways.
The Underground Explorers team includes Aarush G., Advith P., Vibhav K. and Ayaansh N. Through months of preparation, the students strengthened their problem-solving abilities, communication skills and confidence.
Advancing to the San Antonio Regional competition on February 21 is an exciting milestone for these young innovators. Harmony Public Schools-Central Texas is proud of its dedication and looks forward to cheering it on as it continues its journey.
