Harmony Campuses Recognized as 2026 Schools of Character
Candice Keutzer

Harmony Public Schools is proud to celebrate four Houston-area campuses that have been named 2026 Schools of Character, a prestigious recognition highlighting their commitment to building strong cultures of character both on campus and in their communities.

The honor was announced this week by Character.org, a national organization dedicated to advancing character development in schools. Each year, Character.org recognizes schools and districts at the state and national levels that demonstrate a sustained, intentional focus on character education—an approach shown to positively impact academic achievement, student behavior and overall school climate.

“This recognition reflects the intentional work happening across our campuses every day,” said Ramazan Coskuner, superintendent of Harmony Public Schools’ Houston South/West District. “At Harmony Public Schools, we believe academic excellence goes hand in hand with strong character. Our students are not only achieving at high levels, but also growing as empathetic, resilient and responsible leaders. This honor is a testament to the dedication of our educators, families and students who make character part of our culture.”

The following Harmony campuses were recognized:

  • Harmony School of Innovation – Houston (national)
  • Harmony School of Excellence–Sugar Land Middle School (state and national)
  • Harmony Science Academy–Sugar Land (state and national)
  • Harmony Science Academy – Katy Middle School (state)

Each of these campuses has implemented a comprehensive, multiyear approach to character education. Through intentional practices and schoolwide initiatives, students are encouraged to understand, value and consistently demonstrate core ethical principles that prepare them for success in school, relationships and future careers.

To earn this designation, schools underwent a rigorous evaluation process, providing detailed evidence of how character education is embedded into daily learning and campus culture.

This recognition reflects Harmony Public Schools’ ongoing commitment to developing not only high-achieving students, but also thoughtful, compassionate and engaged members of the community.
