Harmony Public Schools is celebrating a major milestone as five North Texas campuses have been named 2026 National Schools of Character by Character.org, a national leader in advancing character development in education.
The campuses recognized include:
- Harmony Science Academy-Dallas Elementary
- Harmony School of Innovation-Carrollton
- Harmony School of Innovation-Euless
- Harmony School of Innovation-Fort Worth
- Harmony School of Innovation-Waco
This prestigious designation is awarded to schools that demonstrate a deep, sustained commitment to developing character in students. This year, only 72 schools across the country received the honor, placing these Harmony campuses among a select group recognized for their impact on both student achievement and school culture.
“At Harmony, our mission is to empower every student with both intellectual strength and emotional integrity,” said CEO Fatih Ay. “It’s inspiring to see our scholars combine academic knowledge with strong character to positively impact their schools and communities.”
Character.org highlights that schools recognized at the national level consistently show how character education can positively influence academic performance, student behavior and overall school climate.
“Schools of Character show us what is possible when a school community commits to intentionally building a culture where students learn not only academic skills, but also empathy, curiosity, civic responsibility, and perseverance,” said Nicole Diehl, Executive Director of Schools of Character.
At each of the five campuses, character education is not a standalone program but a core part of daily learning. Through a comprehensive, multi-year approach, students are encouraged to understand, model and practice values such as empathy, responsibility, perseverance and respect.
From classroom lessons to campuswide initiatives, these schools create environments where students are supported not only in their academic growth but also in becoming thoughtful, engaged members of their communities.
Earning the National School of Character designation requires a rigorous evaluation process. Schools must demonstrate how character is embedded into their culture, leadership and instruction, with evidence of long-term impact on students and the broader school community.
This recognition reflects the dedication of educators, students and families across Harmony Public Schools who work together to ensure that character is lived and practiced every day.
