Heartbeat of Harmony Yolanda K.
A smiling young woman in a black polo shirt stands against a blurred blue background, positioned next to a blue graphic featuring the %22Heartbeat of Harmony%22 text and a red heart pulse line.

Over the past four years, Harmony School of Excellence senior Yolanda K. has been a vibrant, compassionate force whose dedication touches nearly every aspect of her school.

As a highly-involved student, Yolanda sees leadership as more than a line on her resume. For her, it is a way to give back, support her peers, learn from her teachers and improve her campus in any way she can.

It is this balance of initiative and everyday kindness that defines her impact on campus. Social Studies teacher Rebecca Tims captures what makes Yolanda so deserving of recognition.

"Yolanda has played a key role in organizing senior-class events to make this a memorable year. Beyond her leadership positions, she is the kind of all-around student who is always willing to help a fellow classmate, teacher or staff member, showing the same dedication and heart in small moments as she does in her larger roles."

As president of the Student Council and Mock Government Club and vice president of HOSA, her skills shine as a student role model, team member, leader and public speaker.

Her intellectual and creative curiosity extends to the AP Literature Club, where she serves as vice president and helps foster a vibrant space for her classmates to enjoy reading, writing and expressing their ideas. She brings those same skills to the Yearbook Club, where she enjoys capturing memories and moments from campus life.

Step onto the court, and you will see that same tireless energy at work. As captain of the varsity basketball team, Yolanda leads with discipline and camaraderie while also helping keep team operations running smoothly as manager for varsity volleyball.

The court is not the only place where she puts her skills to work. She also brings her precision and communication skills to the Drone Club as its writer and recorder, documenting the team's progress and helping the team improve.

Yolanda extends her passion for service beyond the school walls as a cultural committee member of the Austin Youth Council.

Reflecting on her high school career, Yolanda's fondest memories are not tied to trophies or titles, but to the meaningful relationships she has formed along the way. Getting to know her teachers on a personal level has given her a network of mentors who encouraged her to grow not only academically, but also personally.

"Harmony has helped me grow academically, become more confident and develop my leadership skills," Yolanda said. "It has also given me many opportunities to get involved in my school and community."

As graduation approaches, Yolanda is ready to turn her passion for advocacy into a lifelong career. She plans to pursue a degree in political science or government before attending law school, with the ultimate goal of becoming a corporate lawyer.

Wherever her journey takes her next, Yolanda leaves behind a legacy of integrity, service and genuine kindness that will be remembered throughout the Harmony School of Excellence community.
